2018 Michigan IT Symposium: November 28 & 29

Michigan IT Symposium - November 28 & 29, 2018 at the Michigan League and the Rackham Auditorium

The Michigan IT Symposium is an annual event to help create connections between community members, while showcasing the innovation occurring across all of the university’s campuses. The event is open to all members of Michigan's IT community and includes multiple types of interactions, including plenary and breakout events.

Mark your calendars for the fifth annual 2018 Michigan IT Symposium scheduled for November 28-29, 2018. Join us for an afternoon reception on Wednesday, November 28 to view posters highlighting the ingenuity of the Michigan IT community. The full-day symposium will commence on Thursday, November 29 featuring posters, presentations, networking, and a special keynote.

The 2018 Michigan IT Symposium will take place at the Michigan League and the Rackham Auditorium on the Ann Arbor campus.

Registration for this year’s event will open on Monday, October 15.

The IT Symposium is one of several activities sponsored by the VPIT-CIO and organized by the Michigan IT Steering Committee to build community and encourage collaboration among U-M’s 2,700 IT professionals.

Call for Proposals Now Open

How does your work move U-M forward in its mission to provide world-class teaching, research, and patient care? How is your work changing with the evolution of technology? Showcase your most innovative IT related project, service, or process improvement at the fifth annual Michigan IT Symposium, November 28 & 29, 2018.

Submit your application before August 10.

Presentations and posters for this year's symposium should align with categories in an IT practice area or a category related to the culture and community of IT at Michigan.

  • August 10: Presenter Applications Due
  • The week of August 27: Notification of Acceptance for Posters and Presentations
  • September 28: Submit Draft Posters for Feedback
  • October 19: "Print-ready" Posters Due
  • November 15: Presentations Due

Past Events

  • 2017: The fourth annual Symposium attracted over 560 U-M IT professionals from academic and administrative units from across all four campuses. Attendees developed skills, built stronger working relationships, and showcased how their work helps the university community tackle the challenges of our time—and the massive amounts of data their work requires—through the strategic use of cloud platforms.   • 2016: Nearly 500 IT staff, faculty, and administrators came together in November 2016 for the third annual Michigan IT Symposium. The 2016 event featured interactive sessions, hands-on-training, networking, and panel discussions about how the talents of the IT community enrich the U-M experience.
